Repsol’s current logo is part of a refresh unveiled in June 2025. The company recalls this in an explanation published on 14 August 2026. This is therefore not a change announced this week: it is an evolution of the brand identity whose context and history help distinguish its different visual forms.
The updated version retains the symbol’s outline, incorporates an orange-to-magenta gradient and uses the name in lowercase. Repsol presents volume and movement as elements of its new visual expression. Alongside these is Sole Repsol, the proprietary typeface accompanying the identity system; the logo and the typeface used for text serve different purposes.
Its origins predate the group itself: in the 1950s, REPESA sold lubricants under the Repsol name with an emblem based on the letter R. The corporate history places an identity change at the group’s formation in 1987; the official graphic chart reproduced here dates the group’s first brand identity to 1988. Both references are retained without treating the two dates as identical.
The gallery traces other stages: the graphic simplification of 1997, the Repsol YPF identity linked to the 1999 transaction and the version shown for 2007. Then came the 2012 update, with a more pronounced sense of volume. The 2025 identity retains recognisable elements while changing both the symbol and the lettering used for the name.
When comparing these examples, it helps to examine the emblem, the line running through it, the placement of the word and the use of uppercase or lowercase letters separately. This makes it easier to understand what changes between versions, without confusing a historical reproduction with the identity appropriate for use today in a header, a sign or a contact page.
The images in this article come from official Repsol pages and are displayed for informational purposes. Earlier logos form part of this article’s historical overview. The updated official asset should be used for the website’s headers and current elements, preserving its proportions and original lettering. Information reviewed on 6 September 2026.
